While Prestashop is providing the net weight of an order - ie the total weight of all products present in the order, you still need to have a parceling operation prior to the shipment.

This parceling represent some extra weight that you have to add while preparing the shipment label.

This module is for you. Implement some rules that reflect your parceling and let the module do the computation for you. Those rules react on net weight or based on the quantity of product in the order, and rules can combine both.

Should you be using some automated label printing method, it is even better. The parcel does not require the extra weighting phase. Total weight reflects real weight with a minimal discrepency.
